EXCLUSIVE: DanMachi Returns to HIDIVE With Debut Season 5 Teaser Trailer & Simulcast Release Window (2024)

HIDIVE has acquired the highly anticipated fifth season of DanMachi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), set to be one of the most explosive seasons of the fan-favorite fantasy-action anime to date.

Via an exclusive press release, HIDIVE will simulcast DanMachi Season 5 in the Fall 2024 anime season later this year. The series will stream in the U.S. and Canada, as well as for overseas markets like the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. In celebration of the DanMachi light novel series' 10th anniversary last year and the anime's upcoming 10th anniversary in 2025, HIDIVE has also dropped the first-ever English-subtitled DanMachi Season 5 trailer, which readers can view below, along with new official artwork for the series.

DanMachi Fans Await the Upcoming Release of Creator's Wistoria: Wand and Sword Anime

DanMachi fans have been treated to numerous celebrations since the novel's 10th-year celebrations. DanMachi author Fujino Omori broke the record for the most consecutive monthly light novel publications for a single series, beating the prolific author Nisio Isin, whose Monogatari series returns this summer for a new anime. The DanMachi spinoff series Sword Oratoria also returned after a four-year break, and Omori's other fantasy title, Wistoria: Wand and Sword, is receiving an anime series in July. While the popular DanMachi game Memoria Freese will sunset this year, fans raised a massive 37 million yen (US$250 thousand) for a special memorial project to cement the game's legacy.

DanMachi Season 5 Joins Other Newly Announced HIDIVE Anime Like Oshi no Ko Season 2

DanMachi Season 5 joins other recent HIDIVE licensing announcements, including Oshi no Ko returning for Season 2, Plus-Sized Elf and I Parry Everything, all arriving during the Summer 2024 anime season. Meanwhile, Whisper Me a Love Song and the popular Jellyfish Can't Swim at Night are currently streaming on the platform, with the latter recently voted among the top Spring 2024 anime recommendations by Animate Times, one of Japan's biggest anime-centric outlets.

DanMachi Season 5 is officially described: "Goddess Festival—A fruit festival that brings the labyrinth city of Orario to life.
